OUR GUIDING PRINCIPLES
It is said in the world of aftercare to sex -trafficking victims that 80% is relationship building, 20% is fancy programming. With that said WOR, as much as possible, finds time to connect and offer bonds of love to each participant through treating them with dignity and as the valuable people that they are.
We believe that consistency, dependability, and respect are keys to building trust. We will show up, bond together, and remain united.
We believe that every human is the expert of themselves. We will notice, discover, and seek the best in every life; building on the strengths already present
We believe that every life experiences brokenness including our own. Therefore, it is our high goal to embrace the brokenness with others, we do not take on projects, we are not out to make others like us, or to perform a good deed so we can feel better about ourselves.
We believe we are one part of a greater whole. We continually form networks in the fight against the misuse of life in regards to commercial sexual exploitation, to learn from others, and to be a team builder of solidity whose united goal is to work wise in the area of abolition.
We acknowledge the complex battle in regard to the abolishment of commercial sexual exploitation and multi-faceted levels of influence necessary to gain victory over it. Yet, we remain centered to the call of restoration. Therefore, we will use all organizational resources (financial, physical, time, and otherwise) to this end.
We believe healing is hard work. Hard work deserves acknowledgement. Therefore we will celebrate, often the fruit healing produces within Wings of Refuge participants, donors, board of directors, volunteers, and staff.
We believe that the healing of one is for the many. We believe that if it takes a village to raise a child it takes an army to restore one. Therefore we will depend on one another, ask for help, reach out, live genuine, give unconditional sincere love, and stand for one another with a brotherly love.
We believe that what has been stolen can be given back, what feels dead can come to life, what is broken can be made new, what feels stained can be cleansed. Therefore, will use a strength based holistic approach with limits of, as long as it takes, to walk alongside the life journey of a participant at Wings of Refuge.
We believe that the greatest honor of life is to be an agent of grace that illuminates the Light of Jesus to the world. Therefore, we will, through the power of the resurrection in us, believe, receive, and do what the word says.
